HARDWARE & OWNER HELP

comma four (comma 4) & openpilot community help

A place to discuss comma.ai devices, find setup resources, and get help from other owners. This is an independent community, not comma.ai customer support.

Looking for comma 4?

The official product name is comma four. If you searched for “comma 4,” you’re looking for the same device. Start with comma’s official product information, then use our hardware and installation forum to discuss mounting, cabling, power, and owner experiences.

comma four, comma 3X, or comma three?

Always include your exact device in a support question. Instructions for one hardware generation may not apply to another. Our forum welcomes questions about comma four, comma 3X, comma three, and older devices such as comma two. Check the current project documentation for support before installing software on older hardware.

Browse official documentation for maintained setup and troubleshooting resources. Hardware warranty and order issues belong with official comma support.

Does openpilot work with my car?

Check the exact make, model, model year and trim against comma’s supported-car list. Hardware, harness requirements and supported features can differ even within a vehicle family. Do not assume that a report from a similar car confirms compatibility.

Use the vehicle compatibility forum for questions about Toyota, Lexus, Hyundai, Kia, Honda, Subaru and other makes. Include the details of your own car so replies are useful to the next owner too.

openpilot, sunnypilot, FrogPilot & dragonpilot

Hardware and software are different parts of your setup. State whether you use upstream openpilot or a community fork, and include its version or branch. Forks are independently maintained; their features and device support may differ. Our software and forks directory connects each project’s discussion area with its official resources.

Get a useful troubleshooting answer

Post in Troubleshooting & logs and include:

  • Car make, model, year and trim.
  • Device model, software project, version and branch.
  • The exact error, when it began, and any recent installation or update.
  • A screenshot and steps already tried. Remove private information from screenshots and logs.

Describe existing symptoms while safely parked; do not recreate unsafe driving conditions. openpilot is driver assistance, not permission to stop paying attention.

Read the getting-started discussions or community guides before starting a new topic. Clear titles such as “comma four won’t connect to Wi-Fi after setup” help other owners find the eventual answer.
